Work and Work Order management

Plan, assign and track work orders from start to finish. Whether the work order is a production job, a machine rental or a service technician’s visit to a customer, its exact content and workflow are configured around your company’s processes and needs.

The Work Orders module integrates with other Tarkma modules, including asset management, work schedules and maintenance. Combined with a company-specific workflow, it can automate much of the routine administrative work — including gathering and checking the information needed for everyday decisions.

A Flexible Definition of a Work Order
A work order is, by its very nature, universal — someone needs to do something, for someone, by a certain time.

But what exactly needs to be done? What resources are required? What conditions need to be met? What other questions arise along the way?

The answers to these questions — and, more importantly, which questions should be asked in the first place — are unique to each company once you get into the details. Just as no company's workflows are 100% standard, neither can work orders be an off-the-shelf product.
A Clear Picture at Every Stage of Work
In Tarkma, a work order is more than just a form with lots of data fields.

The concept of a work order hasn't changed much over the past century. Traditional paper-based work orders had one particularly valuable quality — all the necessary information travelled through the workflow as a complete package, physically passing from one person to another. At each stage, the person responsible had the information they needed to carry out their part independently. But the package often also contained documents needed by those working before and after them — everyone involved could see the bigger picture.

With Tarkma, we haven't reinvented the work order. We've taken its best qualities, the ones that don't depend on the medium, and brought them into modern technology.
BOM-Like Integration with Existing Data
BOM is primarily a term used in manufacturing and ERP systems. But the concept behind it is powerful — the elements needed to carry out a job are listed and linked together. These might be machines or workstations, goods from inventory, or people scheduled to work at the right time.

Tarkma's Work Orders module integrates with everything else in Tarkma. Depending on the company's workflow, it brings together available assets, goods in stock, scheduled personnel and much more — in exactly the way each company needs.

The result isn't a manufacturing-specific, ERP-style work order, but ERP-like capabilities that can be applied across different industries: logistics, HoReCa, equipment rental, maintenance... and, of course, manufacturing.
Less Manual Administration
Thanks to its company-specific design and Tarkma's broader principles, the Work Orders module also means significantly less manual administration. In Tarkma, customization goes beyond configuring data fields — it extends to designing workflows: what information to check, what conclusions to draw from it, and what recommendations to give the user.

The job of business software is to eliminate the need for people to manually read, compare and move data from one place to another. That's something fundamentally different from simply making manual work faster with software tools. No matter how fast a person works, software can perform the same task in a fraction of a second. But to do that, it needs to understand how each company normally makes decisions in its day-to-day operations.
Integration with Other Systems
Alongside Tarkma, there's a separate product — TarkmaConnect. Its purpose is to connect Tarkma with the customer's other systems.

TarkmaConnect is more than a conventional CRUD API. While APIs are among the technologies it uses, its primary purpose is to move workflow-specific information between the customer's systems, rather than distributing responsibility for executing those workflows across multiple systems.

Perhaps the most interesting part of TarkmaConnect is its use of MCP technology, which makes it possible to interact with Tarkma through LLM-based AI applications such as ChatGPT. This opens up new ways to analyze the current state of work, gain insight into different situations and plan next steps through conversation — without having to navigate between different views and manually gather the information.
